That’s how it was – VEF Flea Market #1!

A great thanks to everyone who participated – whether as a seller or a buyer, and also to those who just dropped by to check out the unexpected treasures, which as you’ll see  in pics, there were lots and lots of!

Our aim is pretty clear – to give Riga a regular and proper flea market where you should find just about anything starting from old books and filigree porcelain creations, unusual objects for transportation and musical instruments from almost ancient times, very funky shoes from your grannie’s youth and some Polaroids…. as well as much, much more! Just like the box of chocolates in Forrest Gumph movie, where you are unable to guess which filling you’re gonna get! That’s why it’s so awesome to shop at flea markets and that’s exactly why we created this one.

P.S. We are in the process of creating market’s home page with all details, location and times, but for now check out some pictures from 1st market made by Zane Grundmane and see you in next flea market on 23rd of July at the same place!

VEF Flea Market already this Saturday!

The first VEF Flea market will be held already this Saturday, June 9^th in  theritory of the former VEF factory, right beside VEF Art Centre (8/7 Unijas street, entrance from Berzaunes street).

Where to look for old-school diapositives projector, antique granny’s brooches or Mid-Century art book? At the local flea market, of course!

Unlike other big European cities, until now Riga has lived without a flea market. However everyone knows that flea markets are the best place to go and search for most interesting pieces from past. They are also favoured very much by tourists, who wish to bring some more unusual souvenirs home with them.

That’s why already on June 9^th  everyone has a great chance to visit the first VEF Flea Market, which is planned as a regular event. Its main destiny is to offer a different shopping oportunities for those who are tired of supermarkets or the ever-same classic souvenir shops, as well as to establish a strong flea market tradition in Riga. We are confident that there are many people in this city, who have treasures to sell and even more willing to buy them!

Among merchants there will be dedicated collectors of antique goods as well as regular people, who have found good stuff at their home that is no longer needed, but might become someone’s treasure.

What you will find here? Collectors items, such as stamps, cards and pins, interior and household objects, second hand clothes and accesories, books, sports goods, old cameras, jewellery and much more.

The former factory VEF is chosen as a location for this event due to it’s historical legacy (once prosperous manufacturers of radios and other related goods) in the prism of its modern day ressurection into a significant spot of art and culture in the city. Besides it’s great escape from Old Riga for citie’s visitors..

Entrance is free. Market starts at 10 AM.
